Plasma heat treatment

The range of temperatures goes from 300 °C to 1 000 °C and the exposure time from few minutes to several days.
The plasma assisted nitriding process, also called ion-nitriding, is a heat treating process based on gas diffusion into a metal. The gas usually used is pure nitrogen which enhances the surface properties of metal materials.
This type of heat treatments increases the mechanical properties and the resistance to corrosion.
This heat treatment requires a vacuum chamber, a high voltage generator and a gas dispenser equipped with pressure and temperature controllers.
